So Far Gone

I know I am late to the bandwagon right now, but I got my hands on Drake's mixtape.  Apparently this guy got his start on the great teen drama Degrassi, which sadly I have never seen.  He got shot in the back on the show and became paralyzed, explaining the wheelchair.  He then led a dual life, pursuing a music career on both his show and real life.  After fledgling in the music industry with two mixtapes, he dropped "So Far Gone" with the help of Lil Wayne.  Now, it is a immediate success backed by single "Best I Ever Had."  It is making me start to wonder if Lil Wayne is trying to do what Kanye has done in the past, find an artist that he thinks and bring him immediately to the national forefront.  Drake uses some interesting samples on it, sust as "Lets Call it Off" by Peter, Bjorn & John, "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel, "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay, and the obligatory Santogold with "Unstoppable." (Even if songs of these songs have already been used by the likes of Wale, Jay-Z, and others) This kid is still young at 22, and already is featured in a song called "I Invented Sex."  This style is interesting, flowing from R&B to rap, without being D'Angelo or Twista.
