Don Draper vs Tony Soprano

After going through the first 5 episodes of the 2nd season of Mad Men, there has been one thing that struck me, how closely I see Tony Soprano in Don Draper's character. Both characters try (try is the key word here) to be the ideal family man at home, doing so unsuccessfully. Tony continuously has difficulty with Meadow in the early episode and Tony Jr closer to the end while Don often lies to his wife about his whereabouts and has trouble disciplining his son. At work, these characters are all business, whether it is with guns or with advertising. Both continuously are unfaithful to their wives with multiple women. Both continuously deal with past lies or half truths, Tony with all of the gangster activity and Don with his war history. Apparently all this may not be by chance, the executive producer for Mad Men is Matthew Weiner, who also was a writer/producer for the Sopranos. After doing some research on the interweb, I am not the only one who thought this.
